As a specialist pathologist, you will be responsible for examining a range of biological specimens to diagnose diseases and inform treatment plans. Your expertise will directly impact the quality of care provided to patients as you work alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough examinations of histopathological specimens and cytological samples.
- Interpret laboratory results, detailing findings and diagnostic conclusions in comprehensive pathology reports.
- Collaborate with medical staff to discuss diagnoses, treatment plans, and next steps for patient management.
- Participate in case discussions, presentations, and multidisciplinary team meetings as needed.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and contribute to the laboratory's quality control and assurance programs.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with advancements in pathology.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree with a specialization in pathology and a valid medical license.
- Completion of an accredited residency program in pathology.
- Board certification in pathology is preferred.
- Substantial experience in diagnostic pathology within an accredited medical laboratory setting.
- In-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, diagnostic criteria, and pathology protocols.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in reporting findings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload efficiently.
